About CGS
Warmest Greetings,
Our congregation commenced its journey in April 2021 with a small group of Farsi-speaking converted Christians from Iran who convened online under the name Anchor of Hope Group. From the very beginning, our fellowship has been founded on the principles of Bible study, prayer, and worship.
The subsequent two and a half years were a period of remarkable expansion for our community, facilitated by the grace of Lord as well as the diligent efforts of friends and members. What began as a modest online gathering evolved into a flourishing congregation committed to faith, community, and service.
On October 25, 2023, we conducted our first physical service at main building of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Recognizing the significance of in-person fellowship, this church has since become our spiritual home, where we continue to gather weekly to worship and strengthen our bonds with one another.
At that time, our congregation’s name was officially changed to CGS Congregation. The acronym “CGS” symbolizes our core convictions: Credence, Grace, Salvation. This affirms our belief that the sole path to eternal life and salvation is through genuine faith in Jesus Christ. This faith, sustained by God’s promised grace, empowers us to reflect His love in all that we say and do.
CGS Congregation is federally incorporated as a Not-for-profit Corporation under Corporation No. 1733344-7 and today hosts more than 400 members.
We have always aspired to establish a faith-based, family-like community in which all individuals, irrespective of their background or level of faith, can experience love, support, and a sense of belonging. We believe that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation but rather in the embrace of a close-knit and caring community. As many of our members are newcomers to Canada, our gatherings have become a welcoming space for spiritual guidance, friendship, and emotional support.
Today, CGS Congregation has grown into a community center serving Persian-speaking individuals across the Greater Toronto Area, in addition to fulfilling its spiritual mission. Through the generosity of our professional volunteers, we offer free career seminars, financial management workshops, and educational sessions to help newcomers build confidence, connection, and trust within Canadian society.
We remain non-denominational, unaffiliated with any specific denomination, yet deeply committed to the unity of the Body of Christ. We warmly welcome pastors and believers from all walks of life—whether English- or Farsi-speaking—to join us in worship, teaching, and fellowship.
Rooted in faith, growing in grace, and rejoicing in the salvation we share, we strive to embody the love of Christ in all we do.
We welcome your participation. Feel free to join us.
May you stay blessed!
